The VCAB0022-0448-00A shaft-type voice coil motor is specifically designed for scanning systems, optical delay lines, and precision linear positioning applications that require long travel without the need for complex rotary-to-linear conversion.
The VCAB series features an integrated motion shaft with precision linear bearings, ensuring smooth, low-friction guidance throughout the entire stroke range. The moving shaft is constructed from lightweight, high-stiffness, wear-resistant materials. It is capable of continuous scanning or reciprocating motion without overheating, making it suitable for high-intensity duty cycles.
In optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometers, long-stroke linear actuators are critical for adjusting the optical path length. This linear voice coil motor eliminates the need for ball screws or belt drives, providing direct, cogging-free motion that ensures scan linearity and reduces mechanical artifacts.
The zero-backlash design improves measurement repeatability, which is critical for high-precision spectroscopic and metrological applications. Compared to traditional combinations of rotary motors and lead screws, this linear voice coil motor offers several significant advantages: no mechanical backlash, a smooth speed curve free of cogging effects, lower friction to ensure stable force output, and a simpler mechanical structure.
The direct-drive design also eliminates wear points associated with threads and belt teeth, thereby extending service life and ensuring more stable long-term calibration. The semi-enclosed housing protects internal components while still allowing for easy inspection or maintenance.
